Takes Policy and Legislation Education and Awareness Campaign to Kamhlushwa

) will take its national roadshow on consumer and corporate legislation to KaMhlushwa, Malelane on Friday, 7 December 2018. The main objective of the campaign is to share information on various elements of legislation that affects the country’s citizens.
According to the Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, the campaign aims to educate communities around the country about the positive impact of the legislation administered by
on their lives.
“Following the public comments on the amendment of the Liquor Bill and the National Gambling Amendment Bill by
in 2016, it became apparent that members of the public were not well-informed about their rights and responsibilities,” says Davies.
He adds that it was against this background that the department decided to roll out another campaign that will not only focus on liquor and gambling laws but also on other laws that have an impact on South Africans. The campaign will raise awareness amongst members of the public on various pieces of legislation that government has put in place to protect them and to assist them to deal with a variety of challenges that affect them.
The community of Kamhlushwa will also be presented with information on simplified business registration processes and enhancement of company transparency, as well as amendments to the national lotteries legislation.
